Know Wales

About

Know Wales

Local knowledge for living in and visiting Wales.

Know Wales is for the moment before you spend money in a Welsh town: what a taxi is allowed to cost, what a restaurant serves and roughly what it costs, what a stay is like, what a job involves, and who you can actually ring.

We publish dated facts first — council tariffs, menus, licence checks, what “good” looks like — then a short list of names. Paying for tools never buys a place on that list. A knowledge page can go live with no recommended businesses at all.

We are not a directory, not Visit Wales, and not a booking site. Taxi fares are how we earn trust early; they are not the name of the product. The brand people should remember is: if I need to know something about a Welsh town, I check Know Wales.

What we cover

How we work

Numbers before adjectives. Plain English. Welsh as a language toggle, not decoration. Sources are public where they exist — see Sources.

How names get onto a page is explained on How we choose. If something is wrong, use Report an update.

Know Wales is built by people who live here and check the numbers themselves.
