Rhymney has traditional valley pubs and local takeaways. The Farmers Arms is the main community pub. Rhymney Brewery, which traces its heritage to the Rhymney Iron Company (founded 1837), is now based in Merthyr Tydfil — its beers are available in pubs throughout the Rhymney Valley. For a full restaurant meal, Merthyr Tydfil (8 miles south) has the most choice in the upper valleys, including a Wetherspoons and several Indian restaurants. Caerphilly (9 miles) has the widest dining range.
