Getting here
Most visitors arrive by car, or by the Welsh Highland Railway into Caernarfon. Manchester and Liverpool airports are closer than Cardiff for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.
The Maes to the castle and harbour is a short hop inside the walls.
Getting around
The walled town is compact; the quay and castle sit a short walk from the Maes. Hackney carriages use the Gwynedd meter — the same table as Bangor and Llanberis, not a second fare.

Eat
Maes, castle and quay independents inside the walls. August fills the harbour. FSA hygiene ratings run 0–5 — search the venue on food.gov.uk before you book.
Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Bangor is the campus sitting, not this harbour.
Stay
Walled-town hotels and guest houses. Confirm breakfast, parking and cancellation on the venue's own site. August fills inside the walls.

If something breaks
Gas Safe before any gas or boiler work. Electrical jobs should leave a certificate. Highway skips on a public road need a Gwynedd permit — £74 for up to 1 month, 5 working days' notice; only skip-hire companies apply.
Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on quay terraces.
Do
The castle, town walls, quay and Welsh Highland Railway are the core. Bangor's campus and pier are a day trip on the same taxi table. This town is not that High Street.
If you only have a weekend
Walk the walls and quay, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep inside the walls if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Bangor or Llanberis as this page.
