How Corwen works
Corwen visitor guide
Corwen is the Dee-valley market town at the east end of the steam railway — Denbighshire taxi table; Owain Glyndŵr statue, not Llangollen's festival street. This guide covers how you arrive, eat, stay and get practical help — then links into the full pillar pages.
Getting here
Most visitors arrive by car on the A5. Manchester and Liverpool airports are closer than Cardiff for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.
The square to the station is a short hop.
Getting around
The square and station sit a short hop from each other. Hackney carriages use the Denbighshire meter — the same table as Llangollen, not a second fare.
Private hire must be pre-booked with a price agreed when you book — see the Corwen tariff page.
Eat
Square independents. Saturday fills the town. FSA hygiene ratings run 0–5 — search the venue on food.gov.uk before you book.
Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Llangollen is the festival sitting, not this Dee-valley market.
Stay
Square hotels and B&Bs. Confirm breakfast, parking and cancellation on the venue's own site. Saturday fills the streets.
Llangollen festival rooms are a different product on the same taxi table.
If something breaks
Gas Safe before any gas or boiler work. Electrical jobs should leave a certificate. Highway skips on a public road need a Denbighshire permit — £31.46 for up to 7 days on the skip-permits page.
Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on square streets.
Do
The square, Owain Glyndŵr statue and steam railway are the core. Llangollen is a day trip on the same taxi table.
If you only have a weekend
Walk the square and railway hop, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep in town if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Llangollen as this page.
