Getting here
Most visitors arrive by car on the A4086. Manchester and Liverpool airports are closer than Cardiff for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.
The village to the lake, railway and pathheads is a short hop.
Getting around
The village, Llyn Padarn and pathheads sit a short walk from each other. Hackney carriages use the Gwynedd meter — the same table as Caernarfon and Bangor, not a second fare.

Eat
Village and lake independents. Weather fills tables. FSA hygiene ratings run 0–5 — search the venue on food.gov.uk before you book.
Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Caernarfon is the walled-harbour sitting, not this lake village.
Stay
Lake-village hotels. Confirm breakfast, parking and cancellation on the venue's own site. Weather fills rooms.

If something breaks
Gas Safe before any gas or boiler work. Electrical jobs should leave a certificate. Highway skips on a public road need a Gwynedd permit — £74 for up to 1 month on the skip page.
Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on village streets.
Do
Llyn Padarn, pathheads and the mountain railway are the core. Caernarfon's castle and Bangor's campus are day trips on the same taxi table. This town is not a harbour restaurant strip.
If you only have a weekend
Walk the lake and a pathhead, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep in the village if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Caernarfon or Bangor as this page.
