How Llandovery works
Llandovery visitor guide
Llanymddyfri
Llandovery (Llanymddyfri) is the drovers' town at the Tywi head — Carmarthenshire taxi table; mountain-gateway to the Epynt, not a spa. This guide covers how you arrive, eat, stay and get practical help — then links into the full pillar pages.
Getting here
Most visitors arrive by train into Llandovery, or by car on the A40. Cardiff Airport is closer than Manchester for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.
The station to the town square is a short hop.
Getting around
The square and station sit a short hop from each other. Hackney carriages use the Carmarthenshire meter — not the Powys spa table at Builth.
Private hire must be pre-booked with a price agreed when you book — see the Llandovery tariff page.
Eat
Drovers'-square independents. Saturday fills the town. FSA hygiene ratings run 0–5 — search the venue on food.gov.uk before you book.
Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Builth is the spa-and-show sitting, not this Tywi-head town.
Stay
Square hotels and B&Bs. Confirm breakfast, parking and cancellation on the venue's own site. Saturday fills the streets.
Builth spa rooms are a different product on a different taxi table.
If something breaks
Gas Safe before any gas or boiler work. Electrical jobs should leave a certificate. Highway skips on a public road need a Carmarthenshire licence — £75 per month on the skip-licence page.
Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on square streets.
Do
The drovers' square and Epynt gateway are the core. Builth is a different day on a different taxi table. This town is not a spa.
If you only have a weekend
Walk the square, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep in town if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Builth as this page.
