How Pwllheli works
Pwllheli visitor guide
Pwllheli is the Llŷn market town with a harbour and marina — Gwynedd taxi table; Saturday market, not Abersoch's yacht strip. This guide covers how you arrive, eat, stay and get practical help — then links into the full pillar pages.
Getting here
Most visitors arrive by train into Pwllheli, or by car. Manchester and Liverpool airports are closer than Cardiff for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.
The station to the harbour and town is a short hop.
Getting around
The market, harbour and marina sit a short hop from each other. Hackney carriages use the Gwynedd meter — the same table as Abersoch, not a second fare.
Private hire must be pre-booked with a price agreed when you book — see the Pwllheli tariff page.
Eat
Market, harbour and marina independents. Saturday market fills the town. FSA hygiene ratings run 0–5 — search the venue on food.gov.uk before you book.
Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Abersoch is the yacht-strip sitting, not this market harbour.
Stay
Market-town hotels and camping for the harbour. Confirm breakfast, parking and cancellation on the venue's own site. Saturday fills the streets.
Abersoch yacht-strip rooms are a different product on the same taxi table.
If something breaks
Gas Safe before any gas or boiler work. Electrical jobs should leave a certificate. Highway skips on a public road need a Gwynedd permit — £74 for up to 1 month on the skip page.
Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on harbour streets.
Do
The Saturday market, harbour and marina are the core. Abersoch is a day trip on the same taxi table.
If you only have a weekend
Walk the market and harbour, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep in town if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Abersoch as this page.
