How Treharris works
Treharris visitor guide
Treharris sits where the Taff and Cwm Bargoed meet — viaduct and park, RCT taxi table. This guide covers how you arrive, eat, stay and get practical help — then links into the full pillar pages.
Getting here
Most visitors arrive by train into Quakers Yard, or by car. Cardiff Airport is closer than Manchester for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.
The village centre to Quakers Yard is a short hop.
Getting around
The village, park and viaduct sit a short hop from each other. Hackney carriages use the RCT meter — the same table as Pontypridd, not a second fare.
Private hire must be pre-booked with a price agreed when you book — see the Treharris tariff page.
Eat
Viaduct and park independents. Saturday fills the village. FSA hygiene ratings run 0–5 — search the venue on food.gov.uk before you book.
Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Pontypridd is the Taff-street sitting, not this viaduct town.
Stay
Valley hotels. Confirm breakfast, parking and cancellation on the venue's own site. Saturday fills the streets.
Pontypridd Taff rooms are a different product on the same taxi table.
If something breaks
Gas Safe before any gas or boiler work. Electrical jobs should leave a certificate. Highway skips on a public road need an RCT permit — £41.60 for 14 days on the skip-permit page.
Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on park-edge streets.
Do
The park, viaduct and Quakers Yard hop are the core. Pontypridd is a day trip on the same taxi table. This town is not a seaside.
If you only have a weekend
Walk the park and viaduct, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep in town if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Pontypridd as this page.
