Hotel vs self-catering in Wales
Before you compare names, decide what you are buying: a staffed hotel night, a B&B with breakfast, or a key to a cottage or apartment where you cook for yourself.
Hotel / guest house
You are paying for a room, usually daily servicing, and often breakfast. Expect published rates, cancellation rules, and a front desk or host you can ask.
Self-catering
You are paying for a whole place for a set stay. Linen, heating, parking, and “what is included” vary. Peak weeks in coastal towns book early; shoulder season is quieter and often clearer on price.
How we write stay pages
Know Wales stay chapters explain the type of stay and what to expect in that town, then a short list of places we can stand behind. We do not scrape every short-let into a fake “best of.”
Start from Stay or a town chapter such as holiday cottages in Tenby.
