Conwy visitor guide

Most visitors arrive by train into Conwy, or by car on the A55. Manchester and Liverpool airports are closer than Cardiff for most flights — pre-book private hire with luggage space.

The station to the quay and castle is a short hop inside the walls.

The walled town is compact; the quay and castle sit a short walk from High Street. Hackney carriages use the Conwy meter — the same table as Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Deganwy, not a second fare.

Many cafes close by mid-afternoon. Llandudno is the pier sitting, not this harbour.

Get scope and price in writing before walls open, especially on quay terraces.

The castle, town walls and quay are the core. Llandudno's pier and two Ormes are a day trip on the same taxi table. This town is not that promenade.

Walk the walls and quay, eat once with a checkable FSA rating, and sleep inside the walls if you can. Leave Sunday without treating Llandudno or Colwyn Bay as this page.
