What to know

## Conwy taxi fares

Conwy is the walled harbour town with the castle — Conwy County Borough taxi table; walls and quay, not Llandudno’s pier.

## Getting around by taxi

Conwy is a small walled market town and most of it is walkable in under 20 minutes, but you'll need transport to and from it. The main rail hub is Llandudno Junction (half a mile away), not Conwy station, and the simplest connection is a 5-minute cab ride. Sun Valley Taxis and Llandudno Taxis (see Llandudno entries) cover Conwy regularly; there is a small rank outside Conwy station itself on the main Holyhead line.

Dropping a cab anywhere inside the town walls is genuinely tricky — the three original medieval gateways were not designed for modern cars, and the streets beyond them are narrow. Ask your driver to drop at the castle gate or the Morfa Bach car park entrance, rather than trying to drive through Rose Hill Gate into the old town.

If you're visiting Bodnant Garden (8 miles south) or Trefriw Woollen Mills without a car, a cab from Conwy is your only realistic option outside limited bus services — factor this into your day.

Common questions

How much is a taxi in Conwy?

The published figure is the Conwy County Borough Council hackney maximum, not a minicab quote. Tariff 1 starts at £4.00 on the meter. Private hire (pre-booked) uses the price you agree when you book. Night, Sunday and public-holiday periods are higher — they are on this table.

Does the driver have to use the meter?

In a licensed hackney hired from a rank or hail, the meter should follow this table. Pre-booked private hire is not this table. If the meter is above the published maximum, contact Conwy County Borough Council licensing with the plate number and time.

What about night, Sunday or Christmas extras?

Conwy County Borough Council publishes extra tariff periods (evening, weekend, public holiday). They are separate columns on this page — not a surprise booking fee unless the council table says so. Ask which tariff is running before you sit down.

Does the taxi meter apply in Conwy?

Yes for a rank or hail hackney. Private hire uses the booked price. A typical hop is Conwy station to the quay / castle.

Is private hire the same as a hackney in Conwy?

Do you rank taxi fare in Conwy?
