Walking and outdoors
Swallow Falls (2 miles west on the A5) is the most-visited natural attraction — a series of waterfalls on the River Llugwy accessible from a short path; there's a small parking and admission charge. Zip World Fforest (at Betws-y-Coed/Gwydir) offers treetop adventures and zip lines in the forest. The Gwydir Forest trails start directly from the Pont-y-Pair car park — you can do a 2-3 hour circular through mature forest with minimal altitude gain, ideal for families or bad-weather days. The Conwy Valley Railway Museum (closed Mon/Tue; Wed–Sun, 10am–5pm) is beside the station and well worth 90 minutes with children.
Parking tip: Pont-y-Pair car park (LL26 0LS) accepts cash, card, or PayByPhone app. The Long-stay car park and Cae Llan (opposite the station) are card/contactless only — no cash accepted. The station car park is handy for a quick visit or the Railway Museum.
