What to know

Walking and outdoors

The Salmon Leaps Walk (Vale Trail 6) starts from Dinas Powys village square — a figure-of-eight route through Cwm George Iron Age hill fort and glacial valley woodlands, recently featured in The Times as one of Britain's most beautiful woodland walks. The shorter loop is 3 miles; the full route is 5 miles. The Cwm George woodland section is genuinely spectacular in spring bluebell season (late April–mid May).
