Walking and mountain leaders near Loughor

Village and bridge — Llanelli is across the water.

Loughor walking means the village and the estuary bridge — Saturday footfall; Llanelli is across the water on a different taxi table, not a harbour city.

What to know

Walking and outdoors

Loughor Castle — a small Norman fortress above the village — is managed by Cadw and free to enter; the compact ruin sits on a mound with good estuary views. The Loughor Estuary itself offers birdwatching from the estuary banks; this is prime oystercatcher and curlew habitat in winter. Cyclists use the off-road section of the Lôn Las Cymru cycle route that passes through the area.
