What to know

Walking and outdoors

Pyle's main draw is its proximity to Kenfig National Nature Reserve (2 miles west) — Wales's finest dune slack and dune wetland system, with free access and marked walking routes. The historic village of Kenfig itself (buried under sand in a medieval storm) has an atmospheric ruined castle — Kenfig Castle — half-swallowed by dune sand, a genuinely eerie site.
