Where to stay

Barmouth is a classic Welsh bucket-and-spade resort with a range of guesthouses along Marine Parade and the promenade. The charm of staying here is the west-facing beach giving spectacular sunsets over Cardigan Bay — one of the best natural light shows in Wales. Book early: Barmouth fills fast in the school summer holidays, particularly for properties with sea views.

Late-season option: October–April, Barmouth sees far fewer visitors; prices drop significantly, the beach is dramatic in autumn light, and you can walk the Mawddach Trail and Cadair Idris foothills in relative peace.
