What to know

Barry (Y Barri) is the Vale’s seaside town — Barry Island beach and the old docks sit together; it is not a harbour-walled resort like Tenby.

## Vale of Glamorgan hackney tariffs

Barry is licensed by Vale of Glamorgan Council — not Cardiff. Tariff 1 (daytime) starts at £3.10 for the first ½ mile, then 28p per 1/10 mile. Sundays and bank holidays use Tariff 2 from 11pm–6am rules — many Barry Island leisure trips hit the higher rate.

Updated February 2025 — among the most recently revised tables in South Wales. Cross-boundary runs to Cardiff use the VoG maximum if the vehicle is VoG-licensed.
