What to know
Things to do
Gilfach Goch's principal visitor interest is its architectural heritage: the Welsh Garden Village (1910–14) at the southern end of the village used cottage-pair housing and planned cul-de-sac layouts inspired by the Garden City movement — unique among Rhondda coal villages. The adjacent Cwm Ogwr Fach valley has become green and wooded since the last pit (the Britannic) closed in 1960. The Rhondda and Ogmore valleys offer industrial heritage trails, and the Tower Colliery Zip Wire at Hirwaun is an hour's drive.
