Walking and mountain leaders near Holyhead

Breakwater and Holy Island — wind, not east-coast sand.

Holyhead walking means the breakwater, Holy Island paths and the climb toward Holyhead Mountain — wind on the headland; this is not Benllech's wide sand. Llangefni is the inland county town on the same taxi table.

What to know

Holyhead (Caergybi) is the Irish-ferry port on Holy Island — Isle of Anglesey taxi table; terminal, breakwater and station, not a quiet sailing village.

Walking and outdoors

South Stack Lighthouse (RSPB, LL65 1YH) is the unmissable local attraction — 400 steps down to the lighthouse, but the clifftop path viewpoints are accessible before the steps. Puffins, razorbills, and choughs nest here from April to July. Holyhead Mountain (Mynydd Twr) is the highest point on Anglesey at 220m — a short steep walk from the South Stack car park, with views to Ireland on a clear day. St Cybi's Church in the town centre is enclosed within 3rd-century Roman walls — the only church in Wales within a Roman fort.
