Llanharan is primarily a residential community; its visitor appeal lies in its gateway position. Ewenny Priory (8 miles southwest, Bridgend) is a Norman Benedictine church with intact fortified walls, one of the best-preserved examples in Wales and free to visit. Llantrisant (5 miles) is the home of the Royal Mint (visitor experience by appointment). Hensol Castle (Vale of Glamorgan, 4 miles south) is a Georgian castle now a 4-star hotel and spa. The Taff Trail cycling route is accessible at Pontyclun station.
