What to know

Walking and outdoors

Garth Hill (307 m, accessible from Nantgarw in 30 minutes) was the inspiration for Christopher Monger's 1995 film *The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain* — the summit gives wide views of the Taff Valley and Cardiff. The Taff Trail (55-mile cycling and walking route) passes through Nantgarw on its route between Cardiff Bay and Brecon; the section south to Cardiff Bay is largely flat. The Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk connects the area to Senghenydd and Caerphilly on a hilltop route.
