What to know
Things to do
Rhymney's industrial heritage is its defining character: the Rhymney Iron Company (founded 1837) shaped the town's entire existence, and the legacy includes the distinctive neo-classical St David's Church and the planned workers' streets radiating from the ironworks site. The Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk (27-mile circuit) passes through the upper valley with views across to the Brecon Beacons peaks of Pen y Fan and Corn Du on clear days. Butetown (1 mile west) has the ruins of a model village built for ironworkers.
