Skwen's most significant heritage attraction is nearby Neath Abbey (Cadw, 2 miles south, free), a 12th-century Cistercian monastery whose substantial ruins include a great hall repurposed as a copper-smelter's house in the 18th century. The Tennant Canal — an 18th-century industrial waterway used to transport coal and copper — passes near Skwen and has a well-maintained towpath walk. Jersey Marine beach and the Crymlyn Burrows National Nature Reserve (3 miles southwest) are accessible by local bus or taxi.
