Things to do in Criccieth

Criccieth Castle (Cadw, 01766 522227) crowns the headland between the twin beaches — a Welsh-built fortress later held by Edward I, sacked by Owain Glyndŵr in 1404, and never regarrisoned. The panorama across Tremadog Bay toward Harlech is the classic photograph.

Town energy is the ice-cream promenade (Cadwaladers on Castle Street) and the Art Deco Morannedd / Dylan's on the east beach — quieter than Porthmadog's cob and not Abersoch's sailing strip. Pair castle + both beaches; leave Portmeirion and the Ffestiniog Railway for a separate Porthmadog day.
